Modern, Advanced Technology Improve Your Dental Experience
i-CAT Technology Takes Clear X-Ray Images
The i-CAT X-Ray uses revolutionary new technology that takes extremely clear 2D and 3D X-ray images. The i-CAT provides 3D imaging at full-definition and does it at a dose that’s lower than a 2D Panoramic X-ray. SmartScan STUDIO serves as an effective, guided touchscreen interface, allowing our dental team to control the i-CAT with ease.
An Ergonomic Stability System boosts comfort for patients and minimizes error during the imaging process. With the capacity to take stunning, clear 2D and 3D images while maximizing the patient’s posture, the i-CAT is an incredible tool that helps us deliver remarkable results.
X-Guide Nav For Precise & Accurate Implant Placement
In order to help make your dental implant process more comfortable, precise, and efficient, we feature the X-Guide® Navigation System. This state-of-the-art technology features the only live, 360-degree single-view of the drill position and anatomy throughout surgery, allowing Dr. Sheehan to improve the precision and accuracy of implant position, angle, and depth.
iTero Generates Digital 3D Impressions
We know that no one likes to endure through the feeling of uncomfortable, messy putty impressions with bulky, intrusive trays for their orthodontic treatment. Here at Oakland Family Dental, we feature advanced digital impression technology using the iTero® digital scanner system.
The iTero is a digital scanner that takes 3D images of your smile to generate a unique, precise treatment plan that’s best for you. We’ll show you the predicted results of your new smile right there and keep you up-to-date with your progress.
VELscope® Identifies Oral Abnormalities
Certified in dental oncology from the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in New York, Dr. Sheehan has equipped our Waterford office with the VELscope® oral screening system to help identify oral abnormalities. This technology is the world’s most widely used adjunctive device that enhances the visualization of oral cancer or pre-malignant dysplasia.
Dr. Sheehan uses this safe, FDA-approved system to ensure an advanced level of preventative oral care. If she suspects an abnormality in your mouth, the VELscope will be able to detect it in just a few minutes so Dr. Sheehan can treat it as soon as possible.

Before & Afters
Frequently Asked Questions
In order to keep your smile healthy, we recommend that you have a professional cleaning and checkup once every 6 months. If you have ongoing dental issues, such as gum disease, we may recommend more frequent visits. During these hygiene visits, we’ll remove decay-causing bacteria and tartar and check for any potential problems that need to be treated.
We also recommend that you visit Dr. Sheehan if you experience any pain in your teeth or mouth, swollen or sensitive gums, or bleeding. These symptoms could signal a dental issue that needs to be treated sooner so the symptoms don’t progress into a larger problem.
Dr. Sheehan and her team offer a full range of cosmetic dental services that can improve all aspects of your smile. From teeth whitening to bring a brighter shine and to Invisalign braces to straighten misalignments, to veneers and bonding that can conceal a variety of imperfections.
You can learn more about how we can improve the appearance of your smile during a consultation with Dr. Sheehan. She will speak with you about what you don’t like about your smile, explain your options, and together, you’ll decide a course of treatment to achieve your desired result.
There are several options available to replace any number of missing teeth. But one of the best ways to replace a tooth is with a dental implant. It’s designed to take the place of the missing tooth’s root and the resulting restoration looks, feels, and functions much like a normal tooth.
We have implant solutions to replace one, several, or a full arch of teeth. We also offer tooth replacement with dental bridges and full or partial dentures.
Yes! Dentists can provide oral appliances, similar to mouth guards, to help treat mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Many patients choose a custom-fit appliance as an alternative to a CPAP machine because they’re convenient, comfortable, and effective.
Keep in mind that not all dentists are qualified to treat sleep apnea. Dr. Sheehan has special training in using oral appliance therapy to treat her patients’ sleep apnea symptoms and she’s qualified by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.
